Australian Grand Prix: Season launch
I helped one of Melbourne’s leading experiential agencies with their successful pitch for the first-ever season launch for Formula 1, launching the 2019 season to over 10,000 fans locally (and millions around the world via a worldwide broadcast).
The core idea was to put fans at the very heart of the Formula One experience and a Formula One experience at the very heart of Melbourne.
For the first time, all twenty drivers and ten team principals appeared together on the stage for the official kick-off. We wanted to profile Melbourne in a spectacular way and came up with the idea of having them arrive at Fed Square by branded boat, where they were greeted by thousands of die-hard fans.
Signing autographs, stopping for photos and chatting to fans on the way to the stage, each team was introduced with powerful video content and, then, after being interviewed, they all appeared in the ultimate selfie!
The team went on to deliver an amazing event, working with countless partners and stakeholders here and overseas to balance complex production requirements alongside those of the global broadcasters, the teams and the demanding standards of Formula One itself.
Fans around Australia and the world were captivated by the event, as it trended #1 on Twitter.
